A TRAILBLAZING STORY

Explore the evolution of the C-Series from one man’s dream to a class-leading motorcycle that’s setting standards for discerning riders and the EV industry.

FIRST ROLLING CONCEPT

2016

Dennis Savic unveils his first concept for an electric road bike, with a tubular cradle frame housing a battery pack and motor. This concept secures initial capital for an ambitious project.

FIRST C-SERIES PROTOTYPE

2018

The newly-named Savic Motorcycles debuts its first running prototype, named the C-Series (for Café Racer), at the Moto Expo in Melbourne. The prototype, constructed with an in-house frame, uses ‘donor parts’ from a Honda CB250F Hornet.

SECOND C-SERIES PROTOTYPE

2019

The second C-Series prototype undergoes significant structural enhancements, linking the backbone to the motor as the main chassis stress member. This model introduces an in-house designed battery enclosure and custom motor, but due to design changes, it is decommissioned to focus on the SM1 Platform development.

FIRST SM1 PLATFORM

2020

Despite challenges posed by COVID, Savic Motorcycles continues to grow, with Dennis and two engineers becoming the company's first full-time employees. The SM1 Platform evolves rapidly, with the first prototype assembled predominantly from in-house designed components, including brake discs and rims. This prototype was the first in which the battery enclosure became the main chassis stress member - and the foundation of a modular design platform that will enable our powertrain technology to be scaled to other models.

ONGOING DEVELOPMENT

2022

Savic Motorcycles gains visibility, winning three prominent design awards and featuring in Aus By Design and the Shannons Insurance Driven series. The C-Series achieves a representable standard, allowing the company to gain ADR compliance and road register our first motorcycles. The collaboration with Bosch Australia completes our custom ABS system.

PREPARATION FOR PRODUCTION

2023

Despite economic challenges and inflation, Savic Motorcycles successfully raises capital to invest in cast tooling and our first assembly line in West Melbourne. With the support of former European champion Jed Metcher, we refine our in-house suspension, and offer our production prototype to several motorcycling writers - generating our first positive media reviews. The year culminates in a triumphant speed run at the Phillip Island GP track, with speeds exceeding 170 kph, setting the stage for customer deliveries over the following year.

DURABILITY AND LIFT-OFF

PRESENT

The team prepares our first production representative motorcycles to endure extensive durability testing and put the C-Series to the ultimate test. Over two weeks, two bikes successfully persevere through the equivalent of over 100,000 km of harsh pave-block riding to prove the C-Series’ durability and safety on any road surface. Meanwhile, the team prepares the West Melbourne factory, with an influx of tooling and components, and assembly of the first customer bikes ready for delivery in the second half of the year.

OUR PROTOTYPING TIMELINE

Over the years, the C-Series has gone through multiple iterations of prototyping, evolving from a rolling proof of concept with many ‘donor parts’ to a highly-sophisticated custom motorcycle, with incredible power and build quality.
