Savic Motorcycles joins cleantech pioneers on leading startup program

Savic Motorcycles has received a big push along the road to commercialisation, after being selected as one of the year’s most promising decarbonisation opportunities by the flagship program of the climate-tech accelerator, EnergyLab.

The Melbourne-based lab this week announced that we’ve been selected as one of 10 Australian and New Zealand startups to participate in its Climate Solutions Accelerator program, which provides six months of integrated industry and investment support to cleantech startups.

The program will give us access to the region’s largest climate-tech innovation network, including more than 300 mentors and 160 angel investors – as well as a host of corporate partners, venture capital firms, and family offices that support cleantech investments.

“Our mission is to identify those startups with the greatest potential to make a significant impact in decarbonisation, and connect them with the right expertise, investment opportunities and resources to move to commercial success,” says EnergyLab’s CEO, Megan Fisher.

“We’ve been following Dennis’s work for quite some time now, and we’re really excited about what Savic Motorcycles are doing. We will work directly with Dennis and his senior team to understand what they need to move their business forwards, both here and in export markets.”

The Climate Solutions Accelerator program connects startups and their founders to proactive investors, advisors and other partners with the resources to drive their deployment in Australia and overseas. The program also includes an $80,000 investment from EnergyLab’s Angel Investor network, which selects the projects to take part.

The 10 startups selected this year are involved in a wide range of decarbonisation projects and processes, from low-emissions aviation and steel production, to the recycling of battery metals, the efficient management of solar and wind resources, and analytical software for new energy investors.

“We specialise in supporting startups that are developing unprecedented hardware or working in complex industries that face tough regulatory and market challenges, and need help to promote their work in the investment community,” says Megan. “For companies like Savic Motorcycles that are developing technology that will be important in a decarbonising world, we have the people and the connections to give them valuable support in bringing their inventions to market.”
